The biggest thing you can do to make your group or event more hospitable to women is to listen to what we ask for. We know why we show up some places and not others, and we know why we leave. We’re often not shy about sharing this information, either. The problem we have is being heard and believed.
That said, sometimes people can tell you that you have a problem but don’t know what the solution is. We can help you with that. Secular Woman has developed guidelines and/or consulted on the following topics:
- Setting behavioral expectations & codes of conduct
- Speaker and topic diversity
- Inclusive discussion practices
- Family-inclusive programming
- Choosing accessible venues
- Accommodating disability
Have an inclusivity problem that isn’t addressed here? Talk to us. We may not be the right organization, but we can probably put you in contact with experts and learn something more ourselves.
