Atheist Diversity Breaks Through in Secular Woman’s Nude 2013 Calendar

Atlanta, Georgia – September 18, 2012. Secular Woman has announced plans to raise funds for charity by marketing a photo calendar representing the many faces of diversity within the secular movement. Titled Atheists Breaking Through~ The Reveal, the calendar will depict nude and semi-nude nonbelievers of various races, genders, ages and body types. The calendar will be available for purchase in November.

The rationale behind the calendar’s nudity theme is to project the imagery of openness, joy, and freedom within the freethought community, in distinct contrast to cultures that objectify and repress. Bridget Gaudette, Vice President of Outreach, explained, “We’ve commissioned photos of a transgender woman, a pregnant woman, a breastfeeding mother, a Native American senior couple, a gay couple … Secular Woman hopes to portray the narrative that this is the freethinking community: multifaceted, proud and beautiful.” The calendar will also feature entertainers, a philanthropist, and a renowned author.

Secular Woman is joining in the effort to unite the freethought movement by pledging to donate half of all calendar proceeds to the Light the Night blood cancer fund via Foundation Beyond Belief, an organization whose mission is “to demonstrate humanism at its best by supporting efforts to improve this world and this life.” The remainder will be allocated to Secular Woman’s travel grant program to amplify the female voice and presence at secular conventions and to other projects supporting the Secular Woman mission.

Atheists Breaking Through~ The Reveal is the secular movement’s demonstration of free expression without objectification or censure,” continued Gaudette. “Diversity does exist – and Secular Woman invites everyone to celebrate it with us in 2013.”
